Reconnect With Your Partner

Navigating intimate relationships isn’t always easy. While arguments, busy schedules and personal commitments will inevitably impact our relationships, we need to prioritize reconnecting with our partner if we want our relationships to thrive.

To help you and your partner rekindle your intimacy and restore your emotional connection, we’ve created a list of things you can do and say to reestablish your bond with one another.

Questions to ask…

After an argument

  1. “How can I better fulfill your needs?”
  2. “What can I do to make you feel understood?”
  3. “How would you prefer to solve our next fight/conflict?”
  4. “How should I approach you the next time I’m upset with you?”
  5. “How can I better support you going forward?”

If you feel distant

  1. “What are some of your life’s goals/dreams right now?”
  2. “How do you think we could have more fun together?”
  3. “How do you feel about work right now?”
  4. “What do you want our life to look in the next 5 years?”
  5. “What’s something I don’t know about you yet?”

To nurture intimacy

  1. “What is your biggest fear?”
  2. “What do you love most about our relationship/being with me?”
  3. “When do you feel the most loved by me?”
  4. “What is your favourite childhood memory?”
  5. “Who do you admire the most in the world and why?”

Things you can do:
  1. Allocate one day a week to spending time together without distraction (limit screen time, be in the moment together, etc.)
  2. Take walks/exercise together
  3. Plan a formal date night
  4. Eat your meals together (dinner every week night, lunch on the weekends, etc.)
  5. Engage in multiple forms of physical affection (holding hands often, kissing more frequently/kissing for longer, tender/affectionate touches like a back rub or playing with their hair)
  6. Prioritize sex and sexual intimacy
  7. Appreciate one another (acknowledge what your partner does for you, around the house, for the kids, etc.)
  8. Make time for conversation (a 30-minute conversation about your day, how you’re feeling lately, etc.)
  9. Find a new hobby or experience to do/try together (painting, baking, volunteering, etc.)
  10.  Plan a vacation/weekend getaway
